Cherish Partner Feature: EMI

Brent Phillips, Cherish CEO, sat down with Phil Greene from Engineering Ministries International to reflect on this incredible partnership.

Since 2012, eMi employees have been on-site building projects at Cherish Uganda. Emi hires people local to the project, so these construction workers are often Cherish neighbors, former students, and relatives of current students. If there's a stranger joining the construction team, they soon become a familiar face and part of the family.

It feels funny to call this relationship with eMi a "partnership" because it sometimes feel like eMi is a part of us. As an organization, we have grown up with EMi by our side, cheering us on. To date, eMi has built countless structures for Cherish, including Cherish Health Center, the Community Learning Center, Cherish Boarding Dormitories, toilets, a new administrative building, and most creatively - they converted our chicken coop and piggery into temporary classrooms and gathering spaces for Cherish's high school students.

Most importantly, EMI has been like-minded in sharing the love of Jesus diligently over the years. As faith-based ministries, mornings across Cherish look cohesive with the construction workers gathering to praise learn about the good news underneath their construction tents, while Cherish staff members gather to do the same.

Without eMi, Cherish would not look the same or have been able to grow as fast. Like Phil mentions, God knew what he was doing when he connected Rachel Parsons to the eMi team back in 2010.
